Aims & Scope

Haydarpaşa Numune Medical Journal is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access scientific journal published by the University of Health Sciences, Türkiye, Haydarpaşa Numune Training and Research Hospital. The journal is published quarterly, with four issues per year, and accepts manuscripts written in English.

The primary aim of the journal is to publish high-quality, original, and clinically relevant scientific research that contributes to the advancement of medical knowledge, clinical practice, medical education, public health, and experimental medicine. The journal seeks to provide an interdisciplinary platform for researchers, clinicians, academicians, and healthcare professionals to disseminate current scientific evidence and innovative approaches in medicine and health sciences.

The scope of the journal includes, but is not limited to, clinical medicine, surgical sciences, internal medicine, basic medical sciences, emergency medicine, public health, medical education, translational medicine, experimental medicine, and interdisciplinary areas related to healthcare. The journal particularly welcomes studies that provide novel clinical data, evaluate diagnostic or therapeutic approaches, report epidemiological findings, contribute to the understanding of disease mechanisms, or present evidence with potential impact on patient care and healthcare systems.

Haydarpaşa Numune Medical Journal considers the following types of manuscripts for publication: original research articles, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, narrative reviews, brief reports, case reports presenting rare, educational, or clinically significant findings, letters to the editor, and invited editorials. Priority is given to manuscripts with methodological rigor, scientific originality, ethical integrity, clear clinical relevance, and potential contribution to international medical literature.

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial assessment for relevance to the journal’s aims and scope, scientific quality, methodological soundness, ethical compliance, and adherence to publication standards. Manuscripts deemed suitable for further evaluation are subjected to a double-blind peer-review process by independent external reviewers. The final decision regarding publication is made by the editorial board based on reviewer recommendations, scientific merit, originality, ethical standards, and relevance to the journal’s scope.

Haydarpaşa Numune Medical Journal is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards in all stages of the publication process. All manuscripts must comply with the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki, as revised in 2013, and internationally accepted guidelines on publication ethics. For studies involving human participants, patients, or patient data, approval from an appropriate ethics committee or institutional review board must be obtained before the study is conducted. The name of the ethics committee, approval date, and approval number must be clearly stated in the manuscript.

For studies involving human participants, written informed consent must be obtained when required. For case reports or studies containing identifiable patient information, images, or clinical details, written informed consent for publication must be obtained from the patient or the patient’s legal representative. For animal studies, authors must state that the study was approved by the relevant animal experiments ethics committee and conducted in accordance with applicable institutional, national, and international guidelines for the care and use of laboratory animals.

Clinical trials must be registered in a publicly accessible clinical trial registry before patient enrollment, and the registry name and registration number must be provided in the manuscript.

Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, originality, and transparency of their work. Plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, duplicate submission, redundant publication, inappropriate authorship, undisclosed conflicts of interest, and other forms of publication misconduct are not acceptable.

The journal follows the recommendations and guidelines of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors, the Committee on Publication Ethics, the World Association of Medical Editors, the Council of Science Editors, and the European Association of Science Editors in its editorial and publication processes.

The readership of Haydarpaşa Numune Medical Journal includes physicians, surgeons, specialists from medical disciplines, researchers, academicians, residents, medical students, and other healthcare professionals interested in clinical, translational, and experimental medical research.

The journal is currently indexed in TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM TR Index, EBSCO, CINAHL, Turkish Medline, ProQuest, CABI, ASCI, OpenAlex, Embase, and SUDOC.
