The Relationship Between Surgical Management of Upper Respiratory Tract and Monosymptomatic Enuresis Nocturna

INTRODUCTION: Upper respiratory tract obstruction (URTO) caused by tonsiller hypertrophy, adenoid hypertrophy or both of them have been reported as one of the etiologic reasons of monosymptomatic enuresis nocturna( MNE).
METHODS: We aimed to compare rates of MNE recovery in children with URTO and control group.
RESULTS: The MNE rates were %31 and %37 (P=0.41) in study group and control group respectively before operation.The cure rates are %45
and %44 in study group and control group respectively after 4 months postoperatively. (p: 0.55).
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: We could not find any association between surgical treatment of URTO and MNE resolution.

Üst Solunum Yolu Obstrüksiyonu Cerrahi Tedavisi ile Monosemptomatik Enüresis Nokturna İlişkisi

GİRİŞ ve AMAÇ: Üst solunum yolu obstrüksiyonuna (ÜSYO) sebep olan tonsiler hipertrofi,adenoid hipertrofisi, veya her ikisinin beraber bulunduğu durumların monosemptomatik nokturnal enürezisin (MNE) etyolojik sebeplerinden biri olduğu bildirilmiştir.
YÖNTEM ve GEREÇLER: Biz bu çalışmamızda ÜSYO nedeniyle opere edilen hastalarda MNE nin iyileşme oranlarını kontrol grubu ile karşılaştırdık
BULGULAR: Operasyon öncesi MNE oranı çalışma grubunda %31 kontrol grubunda %37 saptandı.(P=0.41) Post operatif dört ay sonra iyileşme oranları çalışma grubunda %45, kontrol grubunda %44 saptandı.(P=0.55)
TARTIŞMA ve SONUÇ: Sonuç olarak ÜSYO cerrahi tedavisi ile MNE iyileşmesi arasında ilişki bulunamadı.
